Turns out, Facebook is not your secret diary. If you put your stuff online and invite other people to look at it, other people might do just that. Still, don’t let that stop you from seeking damages.
It certainly isn’t slowing the five plaintiffs in yet another privacy lawsuit filed against the social networking giant. Filed earlier this week in California, this lawsuit demands a jury trial and money for a bunch of privacy-related complaints.

Facebook may be the stickiest social network here in the U.S.—but LinkedIn is thought to be the default network for a “professional” profile and job history. So why are more employers using Facebook to do background checks on potential new hires than LinkedIn?
Almost 30 percent of hiring managers said they were using Facebook to research new hires, according to new survey data from CareerBuilder—edging out the 26 percent that said they were using LinkedIn.

So far, six malicious applications have been identified: “Stream,” “Posts,” “Your Photos,” “Birthday Invitations,” “Inbox (1),” “Inbox (2)” according to a blog post by Trend Micro researcher Rik Ferguson.
As of Wednesday afternoon, all of the apps were live except for “Stream,” he said in an e-mail.

Do you constantly have 99 new notifications, marked with the little red button at the bottom right in your Facebook account? Would you like to only receive important notifications, such as comments from friends, and skip the stuff various applications send you? Read on.
This isn’t a new feature, but I’m always amazed at how many people simply endure thousands of notifications and updates from applications and pages, without ever bothering to simply turn them off. Here are a couple of ways to do it.

The reported sale of popular online social music application iLike to to MySpace for the surprisingly low price of $13.5 million set off a flurry of rumors and fragmented reports across the web earlier today — some calling it a quickie fire sale, others claiming it spells doom for all web-based music distributors, and many questioning why Facebook would let its most popular music application fall into the hands of its rival.
One of the biggest questions is this: If such a major application commands such a low valuation, what does this mean for Facebook’s application ecosystem? Why do developers want to build on Facebook if there’s no perceived value there? But caution is merited here: It has been incredibly tough to make money from music on the web, and there’s no reason to believe that support by Facebook should really change that. Other apps on Facebook, such as social games, are doing fine.

Tom Byron’s restaurant, Pink Castle, is shaped like a giant nouveau castle, painted cotton candy pink and topped with blue fairy-tale turrets. The inside resembles an old-fashioned diner with comfy booths, checkered floors, balloons, video games and festive salsa music on the jukebox. Its most famous dish is a Pink Burger.
Pink Castle has been such a success for Byron that he says he’d like to franchise it. On Facebook.

Five Facebook users are suing the social network for doing what made it an online superstar — letting members share aspects of their lives on the Web.
A lawsuit filed Monday in a southern California court accuses Facebook of being a data-mining operation that does not deliver on promises to give users strict control of data uploaded to profile pages.
Facebook has dismissed the lawsuit as being without merit and promised a legal battle. The suit asks for unspecified cash damages.
One of the parties to the suit is a woman who joined Facebook in an early phase when membership was limited to the college crowd.

Facebook Lite, a stripped-down version of the full site offering basic network-building features and fast loading times, could be much more than meets the eye. Looking at the bigger picture, Facebook Lite is likely to become a Twitter-killer. There’s nothing preventing the social networking giant from enhancing the Lite service with Twitter-like functionality, especially now that FriendFeed is under Facebook’s wing.
As Geek.com reported, Facebook is pitching Facebook Lite as bare-bone social networking at the speed of light. Basically a lightweight version of the full Facebook site, Facebook Lite will let you track your friends’ activities, comment items, post photos, videos, and notes, respond to friend request, and perform other network-building activities found in mobile Facebook and Facebook native apps on mobile platforms.
