FIRST PITCH: Twitter and Cardinals’ Manager Make Up

Once Twitter’s arch-nemesis, St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa is now buddy-buddy with the primetime startup. Need proof? Cardinals fans at tonight’s baseball game were treated to a ceremonial opening pitching by none other than Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s Creator and Co-founder.
According to USA Today, Dorsey got some pitching advice from La Russa and then “floated a pitch in the general direction of Cardinals infielder Joe Thurston.”
The milestone event pretty much puts to bed the former quarrel between La Russa and Twitter, which had the baseball manager suing the company for trademark infringement, cybersquatting and misappropriation of name and likeness. While that lawsuit was eventually settled amicably out of court, it actually spawned the early release of Verified Accounts, which was big news at the time.
